Enjoy your break! I have enjoyed your podcasts and will begin to read your substack more. I have been out of Christian evangelical fundamentalism for quite some time and identify as "agnostic" meaning simply I not sure. I still love the Lord's library and history. Its just all his fan clubs im suspicious of. Been attending online Orthodox Jewish services online. The Rabbi said all.I had to do was show up. Its not a cult because they argue to much in there together about biblical things. They call me a Noahide. I only need to do seven things and most of them I already do anyways. It has been a great place to still do biblical studies and enjoy the literature and have discussion without the dark cloud.
I'm glad you are enjoying my podcasts! I love learning from Jewish Rabbis and I love how they are willing to debate and learn from one another. It's something we could learn from for sure.
Thank you Christy! I followed you on podbean and I look forward to listening to your podcasts! Looks like a lot of really good ones! I also finished your book this weekend and it brought me to tears. It really validated everything I've been feeling in my journey.
You're so welcome! Thank you so much for writing & sharing your story! I love your balanced perspective & for the reminder that the awkward middle way is worth it! ✨️
For me it's pretty simple: I am.a follower of Jesus and I read and study my Bible. I believe that my personal relationship with Jesus comes first before demonimations amd titles. I also think it's vital amd great to take breaks. Love that you are doing this.
I’m so excited for this! I have been reading Rescuing the Gospel from the Cowboys by Richard Twiss and pondering how to disentangle myself from the western-centric hegemony of Christian culture—and in the same vein, how to discover and practice life giving traditions that I have not necessarily inherited.
I so appreciate your posture of vulnerability, and your willingness to peer into the mystery with us.
“I want to intentionally share my journey, without giving steps or formulas, so that people who are looking to walk the awkward middle way might have a few guideposts to follow if they so desire.”
Good idea! I tend to reject step-by-step faith guides these days. “How to pray”, “how to have a fulfilled life,” “date your spouse”… etc…Guideposts are what I’m responding to recently. 🧡

Discovering and practicing ancient faith traditions is a beautiful thing! 😁

I hate anything that sounds like a formula. 😆 Way too many growing up in Gothard land.
